2-[[4-Amino-3-(3-fluoro-4-hydroxyphenyl)-1H-pyrazolo[3,4-d]pyrimidin-1-yl]methyl]-5-methyl-3-(2-methylphenyl)-4(3H)-quinazolinone (HMQ) is a synthetic compound that binds to the estrogen receptor and has been shown to inhibit cancer cell growth. HMQ also binds to the alpha 1A adrenergic receptor and has been shown to be an antiinflammatory agent. This drug is not active against influenza virus and is resistant to reactive oxygen species. It has been used in studies of hyperproliferative diseases such as cancers, inflammatory diseases such as arthritis, wound healing, and asthma, or in xray absorption studies of magnesium salts.
