Description

Adrenomedullin is a human peptide hormone that is produced and secreted by the heart in response to stress. It has been shown to play a role in the regulation of blood pressure, cardiac function, and inflammation. Adrenomedullin has been shown to increase blood flow to the kidneys and lungs, which may be due to its ability to induce pulmonary vasodilation. Adrenomedullin also plays a role in ischemic preconditioning by inducing cardioprotection through guanine nucleotide-binding proteins. The effects of low doses of adrenomedullin on cardiovascular parameters have been studied in humans.
