Anti-inflammatory peptide 2 (AIP2) is a small peptide that has been shown to have anti-inflammatory activity. AIP2 inhibits the production of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins and leukotrienes. The synthesis of AIP2 is regulated by a hydroxyl group, which may be important for its therapeutic use. AIP2 does not have any side effects and can be used in the treatment of inflammation.
The active form of AIP2 is generated from the amino acid sequence H-His-Asp-Met-Asn-Lys-Val-Leu-Asp-Leu. It has been shown that this sequence also inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cell death by inhibiting the production of proteins vital for cell division.
