Description:
2-aminoethoxydiphenyl borate (2-APB) is a reactive compound that can induce apoptosis. 2-APB has been shown to cause the release of mitochondrial cytochrome c and the activation of caspase-9 and other pro-apoptotic proteins. It also inhibits protein synthesis in cancer cells, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the transcription factor NFAT. 2-APB has been shown to be effective against influenza virus and is being tested as an anti-cancer drug.
