(2S,3R)-3-Amino-2-hydroxy-4-phenylbutanoic acid (AHPBA) is a synthetic amino acid. It is used in the production of organometallic compounds and in the synthesis of drugs that are used to treat skin diseases. AHPBA has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on aminopeptidases and may be helpful in the treatment of human skin diseases. AHPBA has also been shown to have an inhibitory effect on cutaneous inflammation caused by bleomycin.
