Product Information

Name:
2-Amino-6-iodobenzoic acid
Synonyms:
  • 6-Iodoanthranilic acid
  • Anthranilic acid, 6-iodo-
  • Benzoic acid, 2-amino-6-iodo-
Description:

2-Amino-6-iodobenzoic acid is a radionuclide that is used in the study of enzyme kinetics. This compound is often used as a competitive inhibitor with affinity for the enzyme, which then can be quantified by measuring the amount of product formed. 2-Amino-6-iodobenzoic acid has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on murine melanoma cells and human cancer cell lines. It has also been shown to minimize the growth of tumour cells in mice, presumably by binding to nitro groups in proteins or DNA.2-Amino-6-iodobenzoic acid also inhibits nitrosation reactions, which are important steps in carcinogen formation.
