Product Information

Name:
Acid Black 1
Synonyms:
  • Naphthaleneblackamidoschwarz
Description:

Acid Black 1 is a black dye that is used in the textile industry. It has been found to have toxicity, and is therefore only used as a dye in small amounts. Acid Black 1 is composed of several components, including monoethyl ether, glycol ether, and nigrosine. It is adsorbed onto activated carbon particles, which are then heated to decompose the dye molecules into water vapor and carbon dioxide gas. The rate constant for this process has been determined to be 0.0017 min-1 at optimum concentration at 25°C and pH 5. Acid Black 1 can also be used in wastewater treatment by adsorption onto polymer compositions such as polyacrylonitrile-based membranes or zeolite-based membranes with a rate constant of 0.0006 min-1 at pH 6 and optimum concentration (25°C).
