Product Information
- L-Arginyl-L-aspartic acid
- H-Arg-Asp-OH
- H-Arg-Asp-Oh Acoh
Arg-Asp-OH is a natriuretic peptide that is secreted by the atria of the heart. It has been found to inhibit soluble guanylate cyclase, which is an enzyme that converts guanosine triphosphate (GTP) to guanosine monophosphate (GMP). This inhibition decreases intracellular cGMP levels, leading to increased sodium excretion and decreased blood pressure. Arg-Asp-OH has shown a strong inhibitory effect on nitroprusside-induced contractions in rat ileum. This natriuretic peptide binds to the heat shock protein Hsp27, which may be due to its ability to inhibit binding experiments with carbonyl oxygens and intramolecular hydrogen bonds.
