H-Ala-Ala-Phe-AMC is a substrate for aminopeptidases. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus, Staphylococcus epidermidis and other organisms. The specific mechanism of action for H-Ala-Ala-Phe-AMC is not known, but it is believed to be due to its ability to interact with aminopeptidases in cells by binding to the amino acid residues on the active site.
