Description

2-Amino-4-pyridinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester is a cyclic compound that is an antimicrobial agent. It is used to treat bacterial infections, such as those caused by Bacillus subtilis. 2-Amino-4-pyridinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester has a low basicity and does not have the ability to cross the lipid bilayer of cells. This makes it less toxic than other quinolones, and it can be used in oral administration. 2-Amino-4-pyridinecarboxylic acid ethyl ester is also a reversible inhibitor of some bacteria, which means that its effects are temporary and can be reversed by adding more of the drug.
