Product Information
(alphaS)-alpha-(2-Chloroethyl)-4-fluorobenzenemethanol is a chiral ketone that has been used to synthesize enantiomerically pure alpha-(2-chloroethyl)benzaldehyde. This reaction was accomplished with borane, which reduces the carbonyl group on the ketone to an alcohol. The alcohol was then converted to an arylketone by reaction with allyl bromide and potassium carbonate in a microreactor. This synthesis required no chromatography or purification steps, making it a time- and cost-effective process.
