Description:

[(2S,5R)-5-(6-Amino-2-fluoropurin-9-yl)oxolan-2-yl]methanol is a compound that has immunodeficiency properties. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of HIV in human cells and also inhibits other viruses that are not specific to HIV. [(2S,5R)-5-(6-Amino-2-fluoropurin-9-yl)oxolan-2-yl]methanol binds to the protein gp120 on the surface of HIV and prevents it from binding to CD4+ T cells. This may be due to the ability of this drug to inhibit the synthesis of DNA and RNA in infected cells, which is required for viral replication.
