Bz-Arg-betaNA·HCl is a fluorescent probe that binds to the active site of esterases. The fluorescence signal intensity is proportional to the amount of enzyme present and can be used for measuring the activity of esterases in vitro or in vivo. Bz-Arg-betaNA·HCl has been shown to have high specificity for esterases, with low affinity for other enzymes, such as proteases.
