Bz-Val-Gly-Arg-pNA is a serine protease that belongs to the peptidase family M1. Bz-Val-Gly-Arg-pNA hydrochloride salt is a synthetic compound, which has been shown to have a proteolytic activity against collagen and influenza virus. The enzyme exhibits an optimal pH of 5.0 and binds to sephadex g-100 with high affinity.
Bz-Val-Gly-Arg-pNA hydrochloride salt has been shown to be effective at inhibiting influenza virus replication in cell culture at concentrations of 0.1 mM, with the EC50 being 0.2 mM. The effective dose for the inhibition of collagen degradation by Bz-Val-Gly-Arg-pNA hydrochloride salt is 4 μM, which corresponds to a molar ratio of 1:10 against collagen.
