Boc-Arg(Boc)2-OH is an optical analog of triamcinolone acetonide, a potent anti-inflammatory agent. It can be applied to the eye by iontophoresis and has been shown to have good bioavailability. Boc-Arg(Boc)2-OH is prodrug of triamcinolone acetonide which can be hydrolyzed in vivo to form the active drug. This drug has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation and induce apoptosis in a dose dependent manner. Boc-Arg(Boc)2-OH also binds to proteins such as albumin, resulting in its biodistribution into various tissues including the liver, kidney, and spleen. It has been used for treatment of allograft rejection in pigs with success.br>br>br>br>
