4'-[(2-Butyl-4-chloro-5-hydroxymethyl-1H-imidazol-1-yl)methyl]-1,1'-biphenyl-2-carbonitrile (NSC 679096) is a carboxylated imidazole that inhibits the enzyme angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE). It has been shown to reduce cholesterol levels in rats. In addition, it has been shown to be an antagonist at the angiotensin AT receptor, and may have potential for use in treating atherosclerosis.
