Product Information
- 3-Bromo-5-Phenyl-1,2-Oxazole
3-Bromo-5-phenyl-1,2-oxazole is a hydroxyiminopyrimidine derivative with formyl and chloromethyl substituents. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of coeliac disease and depression. This drug binds to the active site of the enzyme glutaminase, which is involved in the synthesis of glutamine from glutamate. 3-Bromo-5-phenyl-1,2-oxazole inhibits glutaminase activity by forming hydrogen bonds with residues near the active site and by occupying a carboxylate group that would otherwise be used for an acid/base reaction. The chemical structure of 3-bromo-5-phenyl 1,2 oxazole allows for hydrogen bonding with peptidomimetic residues near its active site, making it a good candidate for development as a peptidomimetic inhibitor.
