Description

Bufalin is a natural plant product that has been found to have anti-cancer properties. It inhibits the expression of pro-apoptotic protein in human osteosarcoma cells and induces cell death by apoptosis. This compound also has an inhibitory effect on the α1 subunit of MMP-9, which is a key enzyme in the proteolytic pathway involved with cancer metastasis. Bufalin also exhibits antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities, which are due to its ability to inhibit the activity of ubiquitin ligases. Bufalin is a plant alkaloid that can be found in plants such as Commiphora wightii and Croton lechleri.
