4-Bromononan-5-one is a chiral chemoenzymatic product that is obtained from the reaction of 4-bromoanisole and 2,5-diketopiperazine in the presence of an acid catalyst. The product exhibits anti-inflammatory activity by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. Furthermore, 4-bromononan-5-one has been shown to be effective against Spirulina platensis and other microorganisms, with yields up to 98%. This compound also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties by inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis.
