Description:

Boc-S-4-methoxybenzyl-L-cysteine is a peptide that can be used as a model for cell uptake. It has been labeled with the isotope carbon-14 and quantified by a MALDI TOF mass spectrometer. The efficiency of cellular uptake was determined to be 0.2% in the first minute, 0.6% in the second minute, 1.1% in the third minute, and 1.5% in the fourth minute after adding Boc-S-4-methoxybenzyl-L-cysteine to the cells. The peptide penetratin was found to have a similar efficiency of uptake (0.3%) to Boc-S-4-methoxybenzyl-L-cysteine, but it does not bind to proteins as strongly as Boc-S-4 methoxybenzyl L cysteine does, making it
