Product Information
- L-a-tert-Butyl-Gly-OtBu·HClL-Tle-OtBu·HCl(S)-2-amino-3,3-dimethyl butanoic acid
L-alpha-tert-Butylglycine-tert-butyl ester hydrochloride is an oxime that can be used for the preparation of optically active aldehydes. This compound is prepared by reacting hexanes with benzene and chiral pinacolone in the presence of sulfuric acid. The reaction yields L-alpha-tert-butylglycine, which is then reacted with tert-butyl bromoacetate to form L-alpha-tert-Butylglycine tert butyl ester hydrochloride. A second reaction between this compound and alkyl halides yields the desired aldehyde product. This method has been shown to give high yields with low levels of side products.
