Description:

Barium acetate is a salt that is used as an oxidation catalyst in organic synthesis. The reaction mechanism is initiated by the addition of a reducing agent to the solution, which causes the barium ions to be reduced to barium metal. This process leads to the formation of ferroelectric particles and the release of hydrogen gas. Barium acetate can be used with other oxidizing agents such as potassium dichromate or ethylene diamine, depending on the desired reaction.
