Product Information
5-Ethylisoxazole is a mutant isoform of the cox-1 protein. It is derived from the Cox-2 gene, but due to a mutation in the DNA sequence encoding for the enzyme, 5-Ethylisoxazole does not have any activity as an enzyme. However, it still has activity as a receptor tyrosine kinase. 5-Ethylisoxazole binds to cellular receptors and is able to induce the same effects in cancer cells as Cox-2, including slowing down cell growth and inducing apoptosis. This drug also has anti-inflammatory properties that are comparable to those of oxacillin, which may be due to its ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis.
