H-Cys-4-Abz-Met-OH is a novel small molecule that binds to the SH2 domain of the human protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B). The binding of this molecule inhibits PTP1B activity and prevents it from dephosphorylating phosphotyrosine, which is an important step in the signalling pathway. This inhibition leads to the activation of downstream signaling pathways, including those involved in the regulation of cell growth and differentiation. H-Cys-4-Abz-Met-OH has been shown to be effective at inhibiting breast cancer cell growth in vitro.
