It can be used to measure the rate constant and coordination geometry of reactions involving uridine. The fluorescence intensity of 6-CARBOXY-2,4-DIHYDROXYPYRIMIDINE MONOSODIUM SALT is proportional to the concentration of uridine present in solution. This compound has been shown to accumulate in cell nuclei during energy metabolism and calcium pantothenate deficiency. 6-CARBOXY-2,4-DIHYDROXYPYRIMIDINE MONOSODIUM SALT also accumulates in brain tissue after an orotic acid infusion.
