Description

N-Cbz-D-phenylalanine is a phenylalanine derivative used as an inhibitor in the synthesis of polypeptides and peptides. It inhibits the activity of enzymes by binding to their active site, thereby preventing them from carrying out their function. The inhibition rate varies with different enzymes and depends on the pH, salt concentration, and other factors. N-Cbz-D-phenylalanine has been shown to inhibit the enzyme phytase and may be useful for treating peptic ulcers resulting from excess acid production by bacteria in the intestine.
