Description:
Cysteine is a natural amino acid that is found in many proteins. It is an important component of the antioxidant enzyme, glutathione peroxidase, and has been shown to be involved in iron homeostasis. Cysteine can also be used as an antioxidant to prevent protein oxidation. Cysteine may also have a role in signal transduction pathways by acting as a ligand for toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4).
