It is a colorless liquid with an odor similar to that of chloride. 4-Chlorocyclohexene reacts with hydrogen chloride to form 4-chlorobenzene and hydrogen gas. This reaction is mediated by acid, base, or even metals such as copper. 4-Chlorocyclohexene can be used to produce polyatomic molecules such as carboxylates, chlorides, and sulfides. It has also been used in the synthesis of lipid nanoparticles for use in skincare products.
