Description

Dibenzo[b,d]furan-2-carboxylic acid is a photophysical acid that has acidic properties. It is soluble in water and can be used as a cavity acid. Dibenzo[b,d]furan-2-carboxylic acid has been shown to have a strong enhancement effect on the fluorescence of aromatic carboxylate compounds by intermolecular hydrogen bonding. This compound also inhibits the growth of bacterial cultures by binding to their active site, which is a hydroxyl group. The nmr spectra of dibenzo[b,d]furan-2-carboxylic acid show that it has a naphthalene structure with two hydrogen atoms. Binding constants have been determined for this molecule with different compounds in order to study its binding affinity.
