Product Information
- 4,4-Dimethylcyclohexanol
4,4-Dimethylcyclohexan-1-ol is a reagent that can be used in analytical chemistry to detect the presence of macrocyclic molecules. It reacts with the porphyrins or other substrate molecules by displacing hydrogen atoms from their methyl groups. This reaction results in a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) signal that has an elliptical shape. The magnitude of this signal is proportional to the number of protons present in the molecule and its anisotropy depends on the geometry of the molecule. 4,4-Dimethylcyclohexan-1-ol is also used as a nuclear magnetic resonance reference standard for macromolecular geometries and coefficients.
