Product Information
1,4-Diisopropyl-1,4-cyclohexadiene is an organic compound with the chemical formula CH2=C(CH3)2. It is a colorless liquid that has a sweet smell and can be found in various solvents including deuterium oxide. 1,4-Diisopropyl-1,4-cyclohexadiene is soluble in many organic solvents such as benzene and chloroform. The compound undergoes cathodic reduction at the electrode surface of an electrochemical cell to produce hydrogen gas. This process can be carried out with magnesium or proton as the reducing agent and with an external power source. The reaction produces a high yield of hydrogen gas due to the transfer catalyst that facilitates electron transfer from the diisopropylcyclohexadiene molecule to the electrodes.
