Description

2,6-Dichloro-N-(4-chlorophenyl)-benzeneacetaMide is an antibiotic that belongs to the group of chloroquinolones. It is a broad-spectrum bactericidal agent that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. The crystal structure of 2,6-Dichloro-N-(4-chlorophenyl)-benzeneacetaMide has been determined at atomic resolution and reveals its molecular shape, parameters, and radiation sensitivity. This antibiotic binds to the enzyme DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV which are involved in maintaining the integrity of bacterial DNA. It also binds to the enzyme RNA polymerase II which allows synthesis of ribosomal RNA and messenger RNA.
