Product Information
- Dimethyl 2,5-Dibromohexanedioate
Dimethyl 2,5-dibromohexanedioate is a carbapenem antibiotic that inhibits bacterial activity by binding to the active site of the enzyme carbapenemase. This substance has been shown to be highly selective for carbapenemase and has shown no affinity for other enzymes. Dimethyl 2,5-dibromohexanedioate is stable in an activated form and can be used as an inhibitor concentration to study the transition state. It is also possible to modify this substance analogously to other substances, such as acylating it with dibromoethane or bromoethane. The docking of this substance in the active site of carbapenemases has been studied experimentally and theoretically and found to have a high affinity for these inhibitors. The time dependent behavior of this substance has also been studied experimentally and theoretically, finding that it undergoes first order decay kinetics.
