Description:
Deoxyvasicinone is a deoxypeganine derivative that is isolated from the Chinese herbal medicine, Deoxyvasicin. This compound has been shown to have anticancer activity and to inhibit the growth of tumor cells in vitro. The anticancer effect of this compound may be due to its ability to cause cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. Deoxyvasicinone also possesses anti-inflammatory effects, which may be due to its ability to suppress the production of nitric oxide and prostaglandins.
