2,4-Dichlorofuro[3,2-d]pyrimidine (2,4-DFPD) is a potent inhibitor of the enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase. It is structurally related to vismodegib and has been shown to inhibit the synthesis of purines and pyrimidines in cells by blocking their conversion into nucleotides. 2,4-DFPD has been shown to have inhibitory activity against the enzyme dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase and to be a worthy inhibitor for further study.
