Product Information
- 2,4-Diamino-6,7-dimethoxyquinazoline
- 2,4-Quinazolinediamine, 6,7-dimethoxy-
6,7-Dimethoxy-2,4-quinazolinediamine is a compound that inhibits the methylation of histones H3 and H4. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro and in vivo. This drug also has antihypertensive activity, which may be due to its ability to reduce blood pressure by inhibiting angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) activity. 6,7-Dimethoxy-2,4-quinazolinediamine binds to the active site of the enzyme methyltransferase and blocks the transfer of methyl groups from S-adenosylmethionine to a protein's lysine residues. The binding of 6,7-dimethoxy-2,4-quinazolinediamine with histone H3 and H4 prevents these proteins from binding with DNA. This interaction inhibits cancer cell proliferation by preventing replication through transcriptional silencing.
