3,5-Dimethylaniline is a reactive chemical that can react with DNA. It has been shown to be genotoxic in ovary cells. 3,5-Dimethylaniline may also have carcinogenic effects due to its ability to cause mutations in mammalian cells. 3,5-Dimethylaniline undergoes an acylation reaction with amines and forms stable adducts that are resistant to cellular enzymes and photoelectron. The resulting adducts can lead to cancer or bladder disorders.
3,5-Dimethylaniline is a chemical used in the production of pesticides, herbicides and dyes. It is also used as a crosslinking agent for the manufacture of rubber products and plastics such as polyurethane foam insulation boards for refrigerators.
