Dihydrocodeinone is a semi-synthetic opioid that binds to kappa-opioid receptors and κ-opioid receptors. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of cancer, particularly in women and those with breast cancer. Dihydrocodeinone is thought to exert its anti-cancer effects through a number of mechanisms, including the inhibition of pro-inflammatory factors and the stimulation of neuroprotective pathways. This drug also inhibits the extracellular signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (STAT3) signaling pathway in cells.
