Dehydroalanine, also known as Z-dehydroalanine, is an intermediate in the synthesis of a variety of compounds. It has been shown to be an effective catalyst for asymmetric hydrogenation reactions. Dehydroalanine is used in the synthesis of phenyl phosphine, which can be used to catalyze asymmetric hydrogenation reactions. The formation and reactivity of dehydroalanine have been studied using NMR techniques.
