Description

2,3-Dimethoxy-2'-hydroxychalcone is a chalcone that has been shown to have anti-tumor activity. It inhibits the function of cancer cells and binds to human liver cancer cells with a structural formula of C14H10O4. This compound also inhibits tumor growth in mice and has been shown to be effective against other types of cancer such as human lung cancer. 2,3-Dimethoxy-2'-hydroxychalcone is active against both estrogen receptor positive and negative breast cancers, although it does not affect normal breast cells. It also functions as an inhibitor of protein kinase C (PKC) in the human liver and may inhibit PKC in other tissues.
