Description

Gamma-Endorphin is a peptide hormone that has an inhibitory effect on the proliferation of T cells. Gamma-Endorphin is synthesized in the hypothalamus and released into the blood stream and cerebrospinal fluid. It also inhibits dopamine release by binding to opioid receptors, which are found on neurons in various parts of the brain. The chronic use of heroin can lead to chronic schizophrenia and other brain disorders. Gamma-Endorphin has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and Crohn's disease, which may be due to its ability to block IL-2 receptor activation. This hormone also binds to IL-2 receptors in animal experiments, which suggests that it may have anti-inflammatory effects through this mechanism.
