Description:

2-Fluoroisobutyric acid is an amide of butyric acid and belongs to the family of triazine. It has been shown to have a beneficial effect in inflammatory diseases, such as ulcerative colitis, by decreasing the levels of prostaglandin E2. 2-Fluoroisobutyric acid can also be used to treat metabolic disorders, such as hypercholesterolemia, and active methylene compounds that are not regulated by the FDA. This drug is produced from hydrogen fluoride and hydrogen gas in the presence of an acid catalyst. The reaction yield for this reaction is very high and can be conducted at room temperature.
