N-alpha-Fmoc-Nim-trityl-D-histidine is a chiral amino acid that has been synthesized and purified. The N-terminal amino acid sequence of this compound is D,N,D,N,D,N. It is homologous to other amino acids that have been synthesized and studied for their solvating properties. This compound was shown to be a proton donor in the presence of organophosphates and showed the ability to shift the position of the proton from one side of the molecule to another. This compound also showed an enantiomeric preference when it was tested with different reagents. Experiments on this compound have led scientists to postulate that it could be used as a reagent in experiments involving proton nmr spectroscopy.
