Fmoc-His(3-Bom)-OH is a coupling reagent for peptide synthesis that is used to react with the N-terminus of an amino acid. It is a protected form of the amino acid histidine, which consists of the side chain methyl ester and the free amine group. This chemical can be used in phase peptide synthesis to attach amino acids to a solid support or as an intermediate in optimized peptide synthesis reactions. The use of Fmoc-His(3-Bom)-OH in coupling reactions will result in racemization because it contains two identical enantiomers. This product is also used to lower cysteine levels by converting it into serine and vice versa, due to its ability to racemize one of these compounds.
