Description:
4-Fluoro-7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene is a polycyclic hydrocarbon that is used as a research tool in the study of carcinogenesis. 4-Fluoro-7,12-dimethylbenz[a]anthracene has been shown to cause papillomas in hamsters and can induce mutations. It has been shown to be mutagenic by causing DNA damage and cytotoxicity in hamster v79 cells. This chemical is not carcinogenic in rats at doses below 1 mg/kg body weight.
