H-Glu(Gly-Gly-OH)-OH is a casein derivative that has been shown to be an acceptor for diazonium salt. It has been demonstrated to inhibit the release of hormones and exerts endothelial cell proliferation and cell function in vitro.
The molecule has also been demonstrated to bind to the glomerular microvessels in animal models and can be used as a glomerular filtration rate marker. H-Glu(Gly-Gly-OH)-OH also stains cells with a ligation reaction, which is an indication of its localization within the cells. This protein is found in polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis at approximately 20 kDa.
