L-Glutamic acid a-4-nitroanilide is a polyvinylpyrrolidone that binds to calcium and has been shown to be effective in the treatment of intestinal diseases, such as haemonchosis. L-Glutamic acid a-4-nitroanilide binds to calcium and inhibits the proteolytic activity of enzymes in the intestine. This drug also inhibits animal experiments with aspartyl, lactococcus, and other bacteria. It is thought that L-glutamic acid a-4-nitroanilide may bind to the substrate binding site of these enzymes.
