L-Homoarginine is an inhibitor molecule that binds to copper chloride, inhibiting the physiological activity of homoarginine. L-Homoarginine inhibits the enzyme activities of congestive heart and physiological levels and affects biochemical properties in human serum. It has been shown to be a potential biomarker for human pathogens, such as Helicobacter pylori, which are associated with chronic gastritis and peptic ulcers. L-Homoarginine has also been shown to affect energy metabolism by inhibiting the enzyme adenosine deaminase.
