Description

5-Isothiocyanato-1,3-benzodioxole is a cytotoxic agent that inhibits the growth of tumor cells by inhibiting protein synthesis. This drug has been shown to inhibit the activity of colo-205 and sorafenib in colon cancer cell lines. 5-Isothiocyanato-1,3-benzodioxole also showed antitumor effects against breast cancer cell lines MDA-MB231 and MCF7. 5-Isothiocyanato-1,3-benzodioxole is structurally similar to phenylamino and thiourea compounds and may be able to inhibit tumor growth by interfering with DNA replication or transcription.
