Met-Lys-Bradykinin is a synthetic peptide with the amino acid sequence Met-Lys-Arg-Pro-Gly-Phe-Ser-Pro-Phe-Arg. It has been shown to have cytosolic Ca2+ release activity, protease activity, and vasodilator activities. The peptide also has binding affinity for human immunoglobulin G (IgG) and is able to form complexes with soybean trypsin.
Met-Lys-Bradykinin has been shown to induce hemocyte aggregation in ascidian larvae, which is the first step of the inflammatory process. The peptide also induces acetylcholine release from human erythrocytes and increases contractile responses in isolated rat phrenic nerve diaphragm preparations. This indicates that it may be an effective therapeutic agent for treatment of bronchial asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
